On September 17, 2014, University of Illinois at Chicago will host a workshop entitled “PCBs and Their Impact on Illinois.” This presentation will include expert discussions on:
(1) Background on PCBs and their impact on Illinois
(2) Managing PCBs with the use of landfills
(3) Other means of managing PCBs
(4) PCB clean-up success stories
The industrial use of synthetic chemicals known as PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) was banned during the 1970s, but they have proven to be a persistent pollutant, requiring new technological approaches to destroy or safely isolate them from the environment.
This seminar will be held at UIC’s Student Center East and online. For additional details, and to register for the workshop, please visit: http://www.istc.illinois.edu/info/ pcbworkshop.cfm
